Homework, homework, and more homework. For the last week that's all I've been doing. Today another one of my classes started, which means even more homework. UGH! Two of my classes wrap up next week, thank goodness! I'm looking forward to a little bit more free time. I feel like all I do anymore is write papers, and my house is starting to look that way as well.
I think the thing I'm looking forward to the most though is getting back to the kitchen. I feel like I've been neglecting my poor Kitchenaid, and it looks all lonely. Like it's screaming "come back and whip something yummy up in me!" I feel bad, and hopefully I'll get to start trying some of these new pumpkin recipes I've been saving. It's been in the high 80's and I'm not sure it will ever go down, but as soon as it does here comes the pumpkin recipes, hot chocolate, cookies, fudges and stews! What can I say, I love the fall/winter months the best. The richness, creaminess and just general yumminess of the desserts speak to my soul. I like spring and summer months, the lightness, airiness, and fruitiness are delicious, but I really do prefer the heavier desserts.
Of course, desserts is stressed spelled backwards, and when spring comes that's exactly what I do. I have to say, it's definitely worth it!
I'm looking forward to tomorrow, as the hubs gets to come home! To think, he's about 5 minutes away, but I can't see him because he's in the "field". At least it's not a deployment, and for that I'm thankful.
Now it's time to go hit the books some more (literally and figuratively). Here's hoping I can get it all done!

Weekend classes
Today is Friday. For most of my friends this is the last day of the week. This includes myself. Except for this week. Tomorrow is Saturday, and I will be in class at 8:30 am. I have a huge test on Monday, and in order to get more study time in I will be in class at the crack of dawn on a Saturday. Ah, the joys of college. The professor also said that since he was going to be there, that somebody had better bring him a jelly donut. It has to be cherry, strawberry or blueberry filling. Lemon, cream, custard or other add flavors would not be acceptable. I asked if I could instead bring in my amazing cinnamon rolls. He looked at me like I had two heads and asked if cinnamon rolls were jelly donuts *sigh*. I guess I will be whipping up a batch of jelly donuts tonight, since I do not intend upon bringing him a store bought donut *gasp*. I have to say though that I am thankful for the chance to get in the lab and stare at rocks for a few hours, there might be a chance in hello that I will pass this test with an A!
I had a Parent-Teacher conference this morning with little bits teacher. It went rather well. She is above average in every "subject". Of course, this is pre-k, but still, she's ahead of all the other students. I am so proud! The only issue we have with her is the fact that she's apparently "helping" too much. Her teacher has helpers for various jobs, and when she isn't the helper, well, she takes it upon herself to be one. Anyone have an suggestions for putting a stop to that? I'm open to ideas, I've tried a couple of different things, but she just won't listen to me!
Since the hubby is gone, and this week is fall clean up on base, I had to mow the lawn this week. Normally, this isn't a big deal. However, since it's fall clean up, all the lawn mowers at the lawn maintenance center were checked out, every time I checked. I ended up asking my neighbor if I could borrow hers, which she said was ok, and I was very grateful. However, I got it, started using it, and 2ft later, it died. I must have restarted that thing 10 times. She eventually came out, and so did her dad who was here visiting. They looked, poked and prodded. He couldn't get it to work, and I said it's ok, I'll do it 2ft at a time if I have to. I'm just that stubborn! As soon as I said that, and started mowing again, for whatever reason, it only died one more time while I was mowing the front lawn. Thank goodness!
Now I'm about to go drop little bit off for her over night as I go study for my exam on Monday, and prepare for class at the crack of dawn! Wish me luck =D

Pajama Day
Since we live in TX, little bit goes to Pre-K all day every day at the regular elementary school down the road. The PTA has decided for a fundraiser that every Wednesday in October would be "dress up" day if the kids pay a dollar. So the first Wednesday was "funky hat" day, then "funky shoe" day and tomorrow is "funky pj" day. The other days I honestly forgot about, but the little bit came home and reminded me today what tomorrow is. Now I have to go out and buy new pajama's just so she can wear them to school tomorrow. Somebody please explain this to me! To be fair, she has plenty of pj's at home, but they're all night dresses and I can't/won't send her to school in those! So not only do I have to buy new pj's I also have to send her in with a dollar. Not to mention that they are doing the regular fundraiser stuff AND they had fundraiser night at Chick-fil-A. How much money does an elementary school need??? I think what really bothers the hubs and I are the dues to get into the PTA. When did it start costing money to get into the PTA??? We're not poor, or broke, or barely scraping by, and the reason we're not is because we're frugal with our money. Somehow having to pay to have an input on my child's education just seems outright ridiculous to me. To top it off, if you're a member of the PTA you get "benefits" from local shops. The question that comes to my mind is "Why don't you just have the shops donate money to the school???" Seriously, come on now, don't you think that you would get more money that way? It just aggravates me to no end! Ok, rant over.
The hubs is now gone for two weeks, so little bit and I are on our own. Can you say par-tay? Oh, wait... yeah, no. I'm starting to get sick because of the absurd weather changes. Somebody help!
I went to the Dr. today and it's time to start losing weight, so now I'm on a diet. I love to bake, and having to cut out sugar from my diet just might kill me. I'm always up for a challenge though, so I guess it's time to start experimenting with healthier ingredients. Carrot cake, zucchini break, and other healthy snacks will start being whipped up in my kitchen (although I think I'll continue to sneak in some not so healthy options on occasion!) Wish me luck please, as I think I'm going to need it.
I guess it's time to hop off of here and start doing my homework now, have a good day everybody!

The end of another week
So another week has come and gone. I have to say, it's been a rough one. There were some lows and some highs. As you all know by now, but uncle passed this week. A huge thank you to all of my friends and family who sent prayers and were there for me. On the upside, my fabulous mother turned 50! Hehehe, if you're reading this, I love you mommy! My life hasn't been the easiest one, but I'm certainly not complaining. My mother and I have not always had the relationship we have now, in fact we went almost a decade without talking. That all changed a few years ago, and the only regret I have was not getting in touch with her sooner. She is one of my best friends, and there are days that I don't know what I would do without her. So here's to you mom, Happy Birthday!
We didn't make it to the pumpkin patch this weekend unfortunately. I would say we will go next weekend, but with the hubs being gone we won't be going until he gets back. On the upside to this, when we do finally get our pumpkins, we can carve them since we'll only be a few days away from Halloween!
The kid somehow decided she knew everything this week, and this is what we kept hearing, "I know everything there is to know in the whole wide world, but when I turn 5 I won't know everything anymore"
That's pretty much the funniest thing she said, but it became on ongoing joke.
I did find out that she does know how to add small numbers together so long as she can use her fingers. I asked her what 6 +6 was and she took off her shoes and started to count her toes as well! We were all cracking up over here.
With Halloween being right around the corner I went ahead and printed off some Halloween related activities off for her and since she's been sick and kept indoors we pretty much did that all day and had a blast doing so.
We also baked a yummy angel food cake and chopped up some strawberries to go on top tonight. I would have taken a picture, but she wanted a piece first. I cut her one and was intending to grab the camera and take a picture of the rest. By the time I got back to dog had started to eat our cake though! Oh no! Guess that means I'll just have to bake another one, darn! =)

Baking cookies and doing homework
I'm sitting here, and it's 10:00 pm and I know I need to be doing homework, but I'm not! I'm looking at the work that's due Sunday night (for my two online classes) and dreading even starting it. So instead of starting it, I decided to experiment and bake up some almond cherry sugar cookies. Let me tell you, they are delicious, and not helping me do homework unfortunately. This week has been a long one, and not one that I care to repeat anytime soon. My uncle passed, and while I've made my peace with it I've learned some things as well. I also have a ton of homework and a major project due in my marketing class. Wish me luck!
This weekend I want to try and get to a pumpkin patch with my family, as the hubs will be gone for the next week or two to the field. I don't think we'll be carving pumpkins since I don't think the weather plans to dip below 80 before Halloween, and let's face it, nobody wants moldy pumpkins sitting on their porches. They're just begging to be smashed by the neighborhood kids. I'm looking forward to painting/decorating them though with little bit. I should have a few pictures to post when we're done.
This coming week my husband will be gone and I will have the joy and privilege of doing all the household things by myself, to include mowing the lawn, OH JOY! I don't actually mind mowing the lawn, it's just finding the time. With him being gone though, I'll have some extra time on my hands. I think I'll try a few new recipes =)
I guess it's time to go ahead and actually get that homework done now, so thanks for reading to my rambling!

The why behind it all
Welcome to my blog. I finally decided to start my own blog after the last couple of days. I had a family member pass away unexpectedly the other day. He was so young still, and had just turned his life around. He was becoming a role model and I was finally getting to know him. I don't know why he was taken from us when he was. Different people will say different things. I'm glad he was finally happy and in a good place regardless; though he will be missed by many. Nobody knows when their time will come, so live everyday to the fullest. Some days will be better than others, but I'm trying to look for the positive.
I was talking to my beanie (best friend) tonight and encouraging her to start her own blog when I realized that I need to start my own. Who knows, maybe nobody will read this blog and this will end up being another public journal that nobody wants to read. What if I can bring a smile to someone's face, what if I can make someone's day better, what if I can make someone else happy though? I hope that by reading this blog you smile, and laugh and your day improves just a little!
